Lincoln Center Theater has extended Greg Pierce’s world premiere production of Slowgirl for second and final time. The new dramedy at the Claire Tow Theater will now play through August 5. Directed by Anne Kauffman, Slowgirl opened to critical acclaim on June 18 and was initially set to close on July 15 before extending through July 29. The two-hander stars Emmy winner Zeljko Ivanek and Sarah Steele.
Slowgirl is the story of Becky (Steele), a teenager who flees to the Costa Rican retreat of her reclusive uncle (Ivanek) to escape the aftermath of a horrific accident at a high school party. The week they spend together forces them both to confront who they are as well as what it is they are running from.
Slowgirl is the first production to play Lincoln Center Theater’s beautiful new Claire Tow Theater as part of LCT3, a programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new artists as well as developing new audiences.
